Yesterday, Protect Michigan Jobs hosted a petition kick off event in Lansing where volunteer collectors had the first opportunity to pick up boxes of petitions for distribution.
“If the voters of Michigan don’t think prevailing wage is a good thing, give them the right to vote for it,” said Pat Devlin of the Michigan Building and Construction Council. “But why play this game about the end-around when – it’s just a horrible way to run and to pass legislation.”

“Let the people decide,” said Mike Crawford, executive director of the electrical contractors group. “The people of the state of Michigan … see the value in making sure that construction workers, both union and nonunion, are paid an appropriate wage with an appropriate fringe benefit package, pension and health insurance, and funding for apprenticeship training programs.”
